Department Description:
The Sleep Therapy Business Unit within Philips Home Health Systems designs and develops solutions for the treatment of sleep disorder breathing, primarily obstructive sleep apnea. The software V&V engineering group in a coordinated effort with Sleep Therapy is responsible for the design, development, and execution of the embedded system testing of the products realized by the Sleep Therapy group. The primary product focus is the CPAP device for patient treatment and its complimentary accessory devices used for data collection and communication of treatment information to facilitate homecare management of the patient.
Candidate Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for conceptual understanding of the embedded device operation as well as the design and execution of embedded software testing, code review, and product testing. Experience must include, but is not limited to the following:
- Experience in the various aspects of embedded software.
- Experience in software testing methods, developing procedures, and implementation and execution of software tests.
- Experience and comfort with the use of software analysis tools.
- Experience in testing of medical device software in a regulated environment.
The candidate must be highly intelligent and be able to formulate sensible test procedures for complex embedded medical devices. Engineering skills, judgment, and experience will be applied to ensure product robustness, quality testing, and that project schedules are met. Must be able to thrive in a fast paced, team oriented, new product testing environment. Possess the ability to concurrently handle multiple project assignments and ability to lead as well as participate on cross-functional project teams.
Candidate Profile:
BS Computer Engineering, BS Computer Science, BS Software Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. MS/PhD engineering/science preferred.
- Preferred 4 yrs applicable experience with an undergraduate degree or 3 yrs experience and an MS/PhD degree.
- Primarily proficient in C language programming.
- Requires experience with embedded software development and an understanding of system testing.
- Requires the ability to understand structured design of embedded software and real-time embedded devices.
- Working knowledge of embedded systems hardware/software interfacing.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work on multiple projects.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary desk/office job with frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds; requires physical skills to operate computer and other mechanical/electrical equipment.
