Position: Project Manager
Work Location: Milwaukee, WI
Position Summary:
The Project Manager assumes overall responsibility for the planning and execution of small to medium size projects of moderate complexity. Supervises all aspects of the project from Initiation through Closure. Develops and maintains project plan with appropriate work breakdown structure, and coordinates resources, risks, issues, and activities in support of the project plan. Assumes overall responsibility for the successful completion of the project - on time, on budget, and consistent with the defined scope. Manages multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible for providing continuous improvement of project processes and deliverables.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to PMO processes and utilize approved PMO templates on all project assignments.
- Facilitate excellent communication with the technical teams, including engineering, networks and security, development, quality assurance, and training.
- Develop project plans for all phases of a project from Initiation to Closure.
- Communicate and coordinate all project plans with appropriate project sponsor and project team members.
- Ensure content on the EPM SharePoint project sites is current and accurate.
- Define and communicate client business requirements.
- Apply standard project management processes and best practices for project management including the analysis of project schedules, budget tracking, and identification of trends using Critical Path and Earned Value analysis of plans.
- Construct work breakdown structures and activity network diagrams with the project team to identify all work activities and dependencies within the project.
- Ensure all proper project sign-offs and approvals are obtained.
- Provide timely communication of project status, issues, and risks.
- Utilize formal change management processes to capture and evaluate proposed scope change.
- Participate in establishing an ROI (return on investment) for every approved project as part of cost justification in the prioritization cycle.
- Apply leadership skills to build team unity, maintain enthusiasm throughout the life of the project, and to maintain team focus.
- Provide continuous improvement of project processes and deliverables.
- Publish weekly status reports for each project assignment.
- Interact with leadership team as required.
- Take a lead role in creating and maintaining a world class PMO within VCPI.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned and consistent with level of preparation and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree is required. PMP Certification required within first year of employment.
- Experience: Five or more years in a project management role, preferably in a health care or information technology consulting services organization. Significant experience successfully managing technology-related projects. Microsoft Project Professional experience required. Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) experience is a plus. Project Management Institute (PMI) familiarity required.
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills to work with clients and team members. Ability to interact and cooperate with subordinates, peers, managers and executives. Strong organizational and problem resolution skills. Strong leadership, communication, problem resolution, and conflict management skills. Ability to prepare, organize and present information to groups of people.
