Position: Mechanical Contact Engineer
Work Location: Chalmette/New Orleans, LA
Job Summary:
- Fill an entry level mechanical engineering technical position for fixed equipment in support of an oil refinery.
- Provide technical support to the refining site with a focus on troubleshooting, asset improvement, and technology selection.
- Located in Chalmette, LA, with possible short or long-term relocation opportunity to other company engineering or manufacturing sites. Job function reports to Fixed Equipment Technical Services Department Supervisor and Department Head.
Primary Job Functions:
- Respond to plant operational events.
- Analyze site fixed equipment performance.
- Drive site asset improvement in the areas of: Safety, Reliability, Environmental Performance and Equipment Capability and Efficiency in a team setting.
- Support capital projects and minor modifications in the areas of design consulting, technical quality assurance, and start-up assistance.
- Communicates and interacts daily with Inspection, Maintenance, Process, and Operations team members.
- Drives information and drawing improvements.

Qualifications/ Preferred Knowledge:
- Required B.S. (or higher) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Prefer professional experience (including internships and co-ops) within an operating company, major engineering contractor or vendor (petrochemical or other heavy industry experience strongly desired).
