Position: MX Road Designer
Work Location: Sydney, NSW
Job Type: Full Time

Primary Purpose of Position:
  • Utilise sound civil design principles and specialist MX software skills for the preparation of civil design models for projects assigned
  • Prepare and review designs and plans for construction projects.
  • Understand and implement MX QA procedures in NSW.
  • Liaise with other design disciplines to develop and maintain design coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
Working with the Principal Civil Designer and Highway Design Engineers to

  • Ensure that designs meet appropriate technical standards and client requirements;
  • Ensure QA, EMS and OH&S requirements are employed on project tasks assigned;
  • Ensure the civil design model is coordinated with other design disciplines.
  • Strictly adhere to SMEC’s Business Management System (BMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS) and OH&S procedures.

  • Technical support and mentoring,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil design procedures and reference documents.

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Appropriate Diploma from accredited university/college.
  • Minimum 8 years of practical experience in road design practices
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment,
  • Sound knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA).

Specific Experience:
(Provide specific experience requirements of this position e.g International assignment, examples below are given as guidelines)

  • Expertise in steel, stainless steel and other metals
  • Ability to write effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of appropriate software applications including MX civil software and Autocad.
  • A Sound knowledge of road design principles
