Job Description:
As part of a dynamic consulting team, this role supports the sales team by providing technical business-consulting advice at senior levels to both internal and external customers.

This role is responsible for providing pre-sales technical consulting on Dell's Enterprise Technologies, Services and Solutions capabilities, primarily PowerEdge Servers, EqualLogic Storage, PowerVault Storage, Compellent storage solutions, Virtualization, Networking, BURA and System Management Tools.

The Systems Consultant is responsible for taking the customer's technical, financial and business requirements into consideration in order to recommend an optimal solution utilizing the full scope of Dell's capabilities.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Work in a virtual team with Dell Account Executives and other sales resources across your assigned territory, owning the overall technical relationship with your customers
  • Responsible for assisting the sales team to identify and close Enterprise specific sales opportunities while also developing and maintaining a relationship with the customer's technical/IS staff and decision makers.
  • Perform customer focused Enterprise Technology presentations from IT technical level to CxO
  • Organise and conduct demonstrations of Dell enterprise technologies
  • Analyse customers enterprise requirements and develop suitable strategies and solutions in order to meet their requirements
  • Demonstrate high levels of communication and facilitation skills, to ensure the successful interaction of specialised resources working on opportunities across your customer base
  • Work with Dell technical resources to design complex hardware and software solutions and provide the guidance and customer input to ensure the designs meet the customer requirements
  • Provide competitive product positioning against HP, IBM, and EMC in relation to Dell Enterprise products and solutions.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of present technological trends, processes and methodologies in the I.T. marketplace so as to have a strong understanding and knowledge of competitor products and services
  • Assists with the preparation of the technical solution needs for RFP's/Proposals
  • Have experience in delivering solutions that meet the Customers TCO requirements &/or experience in selling using an ROI model
  • Work with virtual teams to develop account plans and strategies for building pipeline and profitable revenue, and take ownership of enterprise pipeline accuracy and completeness
  • Prioritises work as it relates to the achievement of Dell's short and long-term business goals and objectives
  • Contribute and share to the wider Solution Consultant team any IP generated during your work
  • Development of your own leadership skills and your ability to coach and provide constructive feedback

The position requires self-motivation, excellent communication, multi-tasking skills, and must be able to work as a team player with remote management. You must possess the ability to function autonomously delivering a high standard of work to meet the required internal/external deadlines. The position requires achievement of 6-monthly Sales Targets with a rewarding SPIFF and Bonus structure for candidates who excel. You will have a demonstrated background in a similar presales/sales role with strong technical proficiency in enterprise products and solutions.

Essential:
  • HSC or equivalent
  • 10+ Years Enterprise Solution experience preferred (Servers, Storage and Solutions
  • Superior Written and Oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and according to deadlines
  • Ability to travel locally within Australia
  • Ability to travel internationally for training (1-2 weeks pa)
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Strong analysis skills and ability to find solutions using lateral thinking
  • Ability to communicate with all levels in an organization
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Worked in a sales/pre-sales or consulting environment and been responsible for managing a sales quota
  • Clear understanding of other vendor's technology strengths and weaknesses
  • Have the ability to analyse the customer's server/storage management facilities and be able to propose a compelling argument for Server/storage consolidation thru an ROI model

Essential Technical:
  • Strong technical skills in advanced system hardware - Virtualisation, Clustering, Storage Area Networks or Network Area Storage
  • High degree of knowledge of client/server platforms, multi-platform networks hardware and software knowledge - Enterprise Environments

Desirable:
  • One or more Industry accreditations, MCSE, CNE, CCNA, HP ASE, IBM PSE, Vmware, EMC etc.
  • Degree qualified with a major in computing
  • Hardware Vendor or Channel Partner experience
  • Proven track record in consulting to business and building business solutions
  • Consultative Sales Training
  • Previous experience in a Consulting capacity, with sales/incentive quota
  • Demonstrate skills that cover the 3 key elements of a Consultant, being: Sales Ability, Business Acumen and Technical Ability
  • Experience within a customers organisation - Technical Management, IT Management.
  • Experience within Dell - Sales teams, Product Marketing Manager, Partners, Professional Services team.
