As a member of Agilent Labs Molecular Detection Laboratory, you will join a multidisciplinary team developing a state-of-the-art molecular spectroscopy system. The position will be a post-doctoral fellowship in Agilent’s Research Laboratories. We are looking for your talent in systems engineering. Typical responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Collaborate with project lead on the development, fabrication, and characterization of instruments.
  • Participate in the development of novel architecture for next generation IR spectroscopy systems.
  • Present results of your research in regular program reviews to Agilent Labs management, the broader technical staff, and business unit collaborators.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields received within the last two years
  • PhD thesis or post-doctoral (academic or industrial) research which includes the development of sophisticated instrumentation drawing on an interdisciplinary background
  • Experience with the acquisition and interpretation of data
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and optical systems
  • Demonstrated track record of novel research via publications, patents, etc
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills; ability to lead discussions with business and academic partners regarding research results and direction
  • Strong analytical skills and decision making ability
  • Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary project team

The following additional skills/experiences are highly desired:
  • Specific experience with the design and characterization of infrared spectroscopy systems
  • Demonstrated ability to develop automated laboratory test systems
