
VCPI Requires Technical Engineer for Florida & California

Position: Technical Engineer
Work Location: West Palm Beach, FL and California
Position Summary:
The Field Service Engineer is primarily responsible for working at client facilities to resolve issues that require onsite support. The position is also involved in the site assessment and implementation of new VCPI clients. The engineer while not in the field will serve as an escalation point to the VCPI Service Desk and also be responsible for remote project work at client locations. The engineer is required to work independently and be able to prioritize the work load.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for all onsite support of Windows-based desktop PCs, notebook PCs, local and network printers and peripheral devices.
- Involved in onsite assessments and implementation for new VCPI clients.
- Ensure client connectivity to communication devices including network hubs, network switches, routers, printer servers and remote access servers.
- Oversee and be the technical resource for third party vendors when they are required.
- Responsible for client connectivity to essential systems including Windows-based servers, Citrix, UNIX and AS400.
- Support the technology needs of VCPI and its clients and maintain knowledge of each client to ensure optimal solutions are provided and all applications issues are resolved.
- Documentation of VCPI Field Service processes and procedures (including hardware, software, facility inventory, etc).
- Is a member of the Field Service team and, as such, is expected to display technical competency, business acumen, fiscal maturity, client advocacy at all times, and a high level of commitment to achieving the goals of VCPI and to the principles that guide the company.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field. Must possess the following certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and Microsoft Certified Professional in either: 70-210 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or 70-270 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
- Experience: Three or more years experience in Windows based desktop PC and hardware support (both remotely and in client facilities). Proven experience in supporting a wide variety of desktop systems and servicing HP LaserJet printers. Excellent direct client contact skills (face-to-face, and via phone).
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems. Strong knowledge of general software installation and support. Strong knowledge of desktop PC hardware installation, configuration and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of basic physical network components and connectivity. Strong knowledge of network printer installation, configuration and troubleshooting. Excellent project management skills. Proven ability to prioritize numerous tasks simultaneously. General healthcare and LTC specific experience is a plus. Demonstrated client service acumen and communication skills. Analytical independent issue-solver with excellent cognitive reasoning skills. Ability to create value through reducing expense and generating revenue. Experience with ticket and project tracking software.
