
ausAID Needs Assistant Director General, Economics Advisory Group

Australian aid has helped our neighbours and countries further abroad to develop, and our aid program continues to grow. For example, Australian aid has wiped out polio from the Pacific. Australian aid has seen more than 1.5 million children immunized against measles and polio in Papua New Guinea.
We helped build the first bridge across the Mekong River in East Asia, boosting economic opportunities for millions of people living in the region. And our water supply and sanitation programs are providing clean water for nearly 500,000 people in Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Position: Assistant Director General (SES Band 1), Economics Advisory Group
Work Location: Any, across Australia
Duties
As Assistant Director General of the Economics Advisory Group you will assist the Chief Economist drive economic and policy analysis that will shape the effective delivery of an increased aid budget. You will be responsible for providing advice to the Minister, the Director General and the AusAID Executive on economic aspects in global, regional and country development contexts and for building the Agency’s economic policy and analysis capabilities. You will also play an important role with key stakeholders in other Australian Government agencies, global partners including international financial institutions, and in partner governments. You will have experience in the provision of high level and complex economic advice in a range of contexts, ideally in areas relating to the operation of the Agency. You will have a demonstrated track record in the provision of high level strategic advice, exceptional leadership and management skills and experience in developing and sustaining effective stakeholder relationships.
Eligibility / Other Requirements
Excellent and globally recognised tertiary qualifications in economics are essential as is significant experience in the provision of economic analysis and public policy advice in a range of different contexts. Applicants must be Australian Citizens. This is a security designated position and you will either have, or be able to obtain a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance.
