Want to thrive in an environment designed to enable success? Your new position as Officer Flight Dispatch will see you working 24 hour, 7 day shift work, producing flight plans and associated tasks. Located within the Integrated Operations Centre and reporting the Manager Flight Dispatch, this role will see you working with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Operations Control, Aircrew Operations, Load Control, Engineering, Airports and other airlines.

You will be responsible for:
  • Providing Flight Plans and Air Traffic Control clearances for Qantas Domestic and Customer Services within the boundaries of aviation regulations and the Qantas Fuel Policy
  • Maximising fuel efficiency by providing pre-fuel orders to Engineering and ensuring sufficient fuel is uplifted on board the aircraft to guarantee safe, efficient and economically optimised flight operations, in accordance with company policy
  • Analysing forecast meteorology conditions at the departure, intended destination and any other relevant airport to determine aircraft take-off and landing limitations
  • Dispatching the aircraft on the correct routing, ensuring all navigational rules and operational requirements are met
  • Monitoring the ATS flight plan to ensure it has been filed in the required format, including notifications of subsequent changes/cancellations to all en-route ATC authorities
  • Minimising impact of schedule disruptions by implementing solutions that consider customer impact, cost efficiencies and the best interests of the Qantas Group
  • Identifying and analysing potential problems and resolving these before issues eventuate
  • Escalating issues expediently and to the required level
  • Actively addressing re-occurring issues associated with current day of operations and planning functions
  • Complying with Corporate and Divisional Service Standards
  • Complying with safety in the workplace

To be successful in this role you will display:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Aviation, Business or a related discipline will be highly regarded
  • Experience working in an operational environment, within the Aviation or Transport industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CASA rules and regulations
  • Aviation knowledge on rules, regulations, aircraft performance, navigation and meteorology, and ATC procedures and terminology such as that obtained through pilot training, flight operations or air traffic control activities
  • Flexibility to work within a rotating roster
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Sound communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise conflicting tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Computer literacy with regards to standard desktop office automation software applications and company specific systems
  • Ability to meet Branch and Corporate Service Standards
  • Skills in the analysis of meteorological conditions are desirable
