Position: Advanced Practice Nurse Educator
Work Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Summary:
Responsible for developing, planning and implementing the curriculum by providing growth and development opportunities needed to insure the provision of quality care, stimulate personal/professional growth and assure completion of required core competencies for the employees of the Aging Services Network.

Responsibilities:
Provide baseline education and competency testing to assure basic skill set for all professionally licensed staff. This includes but is not limited to: cardiac assessment and intervention, wound treatment and healing, IV insertion, medication pass, pneumonia prevention/identification and early intervention. Establish a minimum set of training standards across the ASN.

Develop a core training curriculum for licensed staff that coincides with Health Care Reform initiatives.

Develop and implement a core training and ongoing curriculum for CNA’s.

Develop and implement an educational ladder system to meet training needs across disciplines.

Use hospital readmission data in both skilled nursing and personal care settings to identify assessment and early intervention skills that are needed and provide education to improve care as demonstrated by reduced hospital re-admissions and transfers.

Use data submitted to Department of Health (QM data)) to identify clinical areas of weakness or risk and provide education to improve outcomes.

Through collaboration with marketing, identify opportunities to increase census through more diverse clinical care in both skilled nursing and personal care. Provide education for staff, physicians and referral sources to improve opportunities for niche markets with specific clinical skill sets.

Use individual, group, interactive and in the moment education methods to inspire staff, and build confidence among staff, physicians, referral sources, residents and their families.

Basic Qualifications:
RN (Register Nurse) with a minimum of five years of clinical experience. Teaching experience preferred.
