Position: GPSC Administrative Assistant
Work Location: Warren, MI - 300001 Van Dyke Avenue

Responsibilities:
Responsible to provide administrative support to a small group, or one or more managers, with supervision available to handle unusual situations. Work includes various clerical tasks; i.e. typing, involving the ability to make decisions, utilizing independent judgment with minimal supervision. Clerical and computing skills require a high degree of accuracy and coordination. May frequently instruct, assign or coordinate a small group of employees.

  • Conserve manager's time by assuming administrative details
  • Establish and maintain a system for managing office routine
  • Anticipate events and take initiative to expedite handling of correspondence and phone calls
  • Compose, prepare, proofread and distribute written reports, letters, forms and records
  • Calculates and interprets data
  • Maintain regular contact with others outside the work group
  • Complete various assignment as requested
  • Maintain records, confidential files and GM specific reports
  • Maintain calendars, schedule and arrange meetings and publish agendas and minutes

Qualifications:
  • High level of problem solving ability including independent judgment and decision making skills with minimal supervision but not necessarily according to established policies and procedures
  • Advanced level of proficiency in COe software (MS Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Scheduling, Internet and Lotus Notes)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of error -free grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle problems/situations or a complex nature
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Education and Training:
Two year college degree or professional certification in related field or equivalent work experience.
