Position: Software Engineer II
Work Location: Richardson, TX

Description:
The IT Software Engineer performs application and interface design, development, and support in a client-server environment for assigned business unit(s). Requires expertise in designing, coding, testing, debugging and installing operational systems that are unique in the marketplace. Perform basic to advanced troubleshooting of applications, add/revise application features, develop workarounds, fixes, and complex program logic. A wide degree of creativity is expected.

Essential Functions:

• Adhere to site General Work Requirements
• Perform intermediate level troubleshooting of business applications in response to end-user reported problems
• Perform design, coding, testing, debugging and installation of business applications for assigned area(s)
• Formulate functional and technical specifications based upon operational needs of assigned business unit(s)
• Document technical aspects of creating or modifying applications and/or databases
• Develop testing requirements and plan to validate application changes and supporting business processes
• Provide inputs on schedule and plan for revising or creating applications and/or databases, including labor hour estimates
• Collaborate with business unit(s), other technology areas and vendors to identify alternative solutions and translate operational needs into IT specifications
• Participate in applicable phases of project management involving changes to existing and/or new applications, and communicate state on a scheduled basis
• Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, OR 2 additional years of equivalent work experience in application development and support
• 4 to 6 years of experience in application development and support, which must include 2 years experience with Microsoft technologies

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
• Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD)
