Position: Systems Engineer
Work Location: Milwaukee, WI
Position Summary:
This position is considered a role on the systems engineering team at VCPI, responsible for the delivery of highly available application environments supporting ERP, Financial, Clinical, Dietary, and resident care applications for 50+ Long Term Care clients in the US. The systems engineer is a member of the VCPI Team and, as such, is expected to display technical competency, business acumen, fiscal maturity, client advocacy at all times, and a high level of commitment to achieving the goals of VCPI and to the principles that guide the company.
Essential Functions:
- Provide technical support and for systems management at VCPI.
- Focus on overall systems management architecture, including all products and processes in the enterprise.
- Design and implement support methodologies based on ITIL standards to provide a highly performing and available systems environment.
- Provide lead engineering for systems monitoring and support.
- Oversee and support Citrix terminal services environment.
- Interact and collaborate with other senior technical engineers to provide a highly available environment to VCPI clients across North America.
- Participates in architecture, planning, and support of the application hosting environments.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of 3rd party vendor applications to limit planned and unplanned outage windows, and to provide value added client support services.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery planning as it pertains to system environments.
- Provides VCPI Management with recommendations for the current I.T. infrastructure and the addition of new technology.
- Contributes expertise as an active member of Production Services and Engineering Team.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field.
- Experience: Overall 5+ years of IT experience.
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Microsoft Windows, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, MS Exchange, Citrix Administration, MS Active Directory, Symantec Netbackup, HP hardware including c-class blade systems, Print Services. Citrix administration experience. Experience with Windows systems management and solution engineering. Systems and Applications monitoring and systems patch deployment experience Practical knowledge of Disaster Recovery/Business Resumption planning and configuration Experience in developing and utilizing efficient methodologies and practices in managing large scale technology environments. Quality written and verbal communication skills.
