Position Description:
The Market Analytics Manager is a data intensive role responsible for understanding the US mobile device and tablet market and collecting and synthesizing data to deliver value add reports and recommendations. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to collecting data, synthesizing and delivering in-depth and insightful weekly, monthly and quarterly reports based primarily on internally developed data. This role will proactively identify market trends and make recommendations on how Samsung should react, communicate with external 3rd party analytical firms to deepen market understanding, conduct ad-hoc analyses (e.g., segment, competitor, channel) at request of management or from market opportunity.
Common Essential Duties & Resp:
- Own weekly, monthly “Market Report”; collect data required for report, conduct analyses, and prepare report in a timely manner; present report to STA executive management.
- Develop processes and systems to collect, store, and analyze required data; enhance STA’s analytical capabilities to improve our business performance
- Communicate with 3rd party analysts (e.g., Gartner, Strategy Analytics, IDC)
- Become Subject Matter Expert for US market; utilize any/all data and resources to deepen STA’s understanding of trends (whether at market or carrier or sub-carrier level) and activity within the US
- Proactively identify and report on trends and develop recommended business actions to react to the trends
- Work with other STA organizations/departments to create analyses to improve business performance
- Present analyses and recommendations to senior management
Background / Experience:
- MUST have 5 – 7+ years Wireless Industry experience (carrier and/or OEM); 3+ analytical experience a must
- BS degree required, MBA preferred
- In-depth understanding of US wireless market
- Exceptional analytical skills, ability to develop creative and original analyses
- Ability to manage details yet possess strategic perspective to identify and communicate the value of that information
- Excellent communication & presentation skills; ability to develop executive level presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with wide range of colleagues
- Strong sense of ownership of data; understanding of the responsibility that comes with making recommendations based on your data
Necessary Skills / Attributes:
- Willingness to work additional hours beyond normal schedule.
- Self-motivated professional who can succeed with little supervision or guidance and who can prioritize/identify the key actions required to achieve STA and team goals and to complete individual assignments within established time frames.
- Excellent analytical capabilities. Ability to think fast and “synthesize” (e.g., is data credible, what does it mean, is it important) data on the spot. Ability to link data from one area to another.
- Inquisitive nature, perseverance and determination to not stop until the underlying answer is found or root cause is discovered; ability to develop and try multiple approaches in solving a problem
- Interacts with peers & mgmt across entire organization, and must work cooperatively in collaborative environment. Comfortable interfacing with senior management for presentations and recommendations.
- The demonstrated ability to solve problems involving continuously changing situations and requiring constructive thinking and imaginative, original approaches and analyses. Work is guided by objectives and broad functional direction.

- The ability to read, write, and prepare comprehensive spreadsheets and reports and ability to present information in clear, concise manner
- Demonstrated English language competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external communications at various levels.
Physical / Mental Demands & Condition:
- Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 95% of work time in a moderately mobile and sedentary position.
- Lift, move, or adjust general office equipment, boxes, supplies, materials, or products weighing up to 25 pounds using proper materials handling equipment and procedures
- High level of visual acuity, numeric and character detail, and moderate color distinction for accurate preparation of documents for information analysis and error recognition.
- High hand/finger dexterity with fine motor coordination skills.
- Under little/no supervision where general policies govern, daily activities are only sometimes monitored, and performance is measured by effective results. Errors are difficult to detect and may adversely affect outside relationships and business performance. Access to confidential data where disclosure is detrimental to the company’s interests.
- Travel less than 10% of the time.
