
General Motors Need Senior Process Engineer for Defiance, OH

Position: Senior Process Engineer - Casting
Work Location: Defiance, OH - 26427 State Road, Route 281E
The "career" level process engineer responsible for developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of castings. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.
Responsible for:
- Perform casting manufacturing projects by following a systematic engineering process of evaluation, validation, and technology transfer to manufacturing.
- Lead the development and implementation of program-specific manufacturing processes
- Support launch wall process through manufacturing validation build plan
- Interface with plant site personnel, central ME personnel, and select product engineers on assigned projects
- Interface with plant site personnel in continuous improvement process at the plant to improve metrics in the SPQRC arena
- Gate-keeper of the appropriate BOP, PFMEA documents for the foundry processes implemented
- Stay abreast of new casting technologies being developed
- Manufacturing process definition
- Sequence of operations
- Human factors consideration
- Efficient material flow
- Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
- Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology.
Basic Required:
- Strong technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
- Strong knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles
- Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
- Proven ability in project management skills
- Strong technical knowledge of precision sand casting
Basic Preferred:
- Experience working in foundry environment
- 8 years of experience
Education and Training:
College degree with major in engineering or equivalent training/experience.
