Position: Sr. Network Engineer (Code: BRAC-SrNE-1-VA)
Work Location: Alexandria, Virginia

Position Description:
  • Applies advanced networking concepts in the analysis, study, and design of data networks.
  • Analyzes network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommends procurement, removals, and modifications to network components.
  • Designs and optimizes network topologies and site configurations.
  • Plans installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities.
  • May review existing network designs and capabilities with the goal of making refinements, reducing operating overhead, enhancing network throughput, and improving current network topologies.
  • May provide task direction to less experienced network engineers.
  • Establishes and satisfies highly challenging and complex system-wide information assurance/system security requirements based upon the analysis of user, operational, policy, regulatory, and resource demands.
  • Supports the development and implementation of DIACAP-related doctrine, policies, and architectures.
  • Applies technical skills to develop, design, and implement of solutions.
  • Serves as and coordinates with C&A team members and senior representatives to establish and define programs, resources, schedules, and risks.
  • Applies expertise to sensitive government systems and networks requiring specialized security features and procedures.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and operation of ISS-enabling technologies, processes, and procedures into systems and networks.
  • Examples may include Virtual Private Networks, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, vulnerability assessment techniques, and other security boundary technologies and processes.
  • Responsibilities include secure system engineering and development, including system/security requirements analysis and secure system definition and development of Information Assurance specifications, policies, and procedures using technical and analytical skills.
  • Other areas may include planning, training, and preparation for contingency and disaster recovery operations.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science or Masters of Science degree with 5 to 10 years experience
  • Information Assurance/security policy development, security architecture design, development and planning, security engineering analysis, INFOSEC, DIACAP
  • Good understanding of communications and network engineering
  • Ability to interact with senior management
  • Security certification (CISSP or CISA) required
  • Requires Department of Defense background investigation
  • Ability to Travel Required
