The NPI procurement specialist is located at Singapore, he/she is the procurement functional lead for all NPI projects, ensuring successful production introductions by managing all procurement contributions. These include proper sourcing to meet project objectives for cost, time-to market, quality, and production performance, while balancing overall procurement/order fulfillment initiatives. This is accomplished by managing procurement deliverables throughout the NPI lifecycle process, negotiating with cross functional partners, and escalating issues as appropriate. Continuing process improvements are evaluated and put into use in conjunction with feedback from partners and counterparts in other CAG/LSG sites.
The NPS is the primary interface between R&D and OF, and procurement. He/she acts as the primary escalation point for all of these areas with respect to NPI.
Position Responsibilities/Duties:
- Validates and provides costing roll ups for each project checkpoint and possibly more frequently based on project need.
- Initiates procurement plans or updates to the manufacturing plan to the OF lead.
- Drives piece part design/manufacturing reviews with procurement and provides updates on status at checkpoint meetings. If critical part plans are required, this is determined by the NPS and the OF lead and communicated to the commodity teams for execution.
- Tracks materials to ensure it is available for each scheduled build, and updates the OF team as to any risks and facilitates potential work around for material shortages.
- Works with the planner via the SAP timeline team to determine ramp up/down schedules, how it will be communicated to procurement, and tracks potential excess materials.
- Provides R&D the necessary information on lead-times and drives the release of materials in a timely manner in order to meet project build dates.
- Follows and initiates key NPI processes.
- Tracks and reports BFT metrics per project each month.
- Tracks information on procurement capacity with respect to NPI projects and provides direction to procurement management.
- Sets procurement priority with respect to competing NPI projects as required.
- Reviews and disseminates NPI ECO’s as appropriate within the department.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree or equivalent University Degree plus a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, with typically 5-10 years practical experience.
- Engineering Degree (Electrical or Mechanical) is preferred.
- Effective communication skills and project management experience to lead cross-functional initiatives across various groups, sites, organizations.
- Good business acumen with positive solutions-orientated approach and ability to build productive relationships
- Demonstrates strong teamwork skills and is able to collaborate and work effectively with others. Can work across geographies, with remote partners, and in a virtual team environment.
- Ability to work and manage multiple tasks in an interrupt driven environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
