Position: Microbiologist
Work Location: Selangor - Shah Alam

Responsibilities:
Executes the quality and food safety agenda in the microbiological and food safety aspects of the Shah Alam plant manufacturing plant.

  1. Ensure implementation and execution of the Kraft Quality Policies in the plant. Works very closely between cross functional departments, mainly production, engineering, warehouse and R&D to implement the Kraft’s quality policies.
  2. Train, develop and coach the lab technician in the aspects of microbiology and food safety, product release and the upkeep of microbiological laboratory. Ensure that ingredients, intermediates and finish products are tested accurately in accordance to the Kraft approved test method prior to releasing the product to trade.
  3. For test that is conducted in external labs, ensure that the tests are completed timely. Coordinate with 3rd party logistics for finish product release. Provide finish product Certificate of Analysis to external customers
  4. Ensure that biological sensitive ingredients are tested and the Certificate of Analysis verification is done in accordance to the Kraft Quality Policies requirement prior to product being released to production
  5. Ensure that the Pathogen Environmental Monitoring program and the Non pathogen Environmental Monitoring program are carried out timely.Out of specification results are escalated timely and participate in the root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  6. Participates in any investigations and root cause analysis activities involving out of specification result from pathogen and non pathogen monitoring results, consumer complaints, audit findings and continual improvement activities.
  7. Participate, implement and execute the plant’s HACCP Plans. Implementations are according to the approved HACCP Design.
  8. Conducts internal audit and participates in external audits. Follows up on gap closure and verifies if corrective actions are carried out promptly.
  9. Ensure that lab equipments which fall under the responsibility of the Quality Department are calibrated and equipments are in good working condition. Upkeep of microbiology laboratory.Conducts training on Quality and Food Safety topics and assesses effectiveness of training,
  10. Ensure inventory control for microbiology lab is in place

Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or equivalent.
  • At least 2 year(s) of working experience as a Microbiologist in a food manufacturing industry with hands-on experience.
  • Exposure to HACCP
  • SAP knowledge & auditing capability would be an added advantage
  • ISO9001/2000, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 would be an added advantage
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to influence and work with cross functional team.
