Position: HSE Manager - Caval Ridge Greenfield Project
Work Location: Queensland

About the project - Caval Ridge:
The Caval Ridge project includes the development of a Greenfield coal mine in the northern section of the Bowen Basin which will produce up to 8 million tonnes per annum of high quality hard coking coal. The Caval Ridge mine will be located 16km south of Moranbah and 160km south-west of Mackay.

About the job:
Reporting through to the Project Manager you will be responsible for ensuring project HSE requirements are achieved in accordance with BHP policies and procedures, mine Health and safety act requirements and project approvals. You will provide specialist strategic and technical advice across the project in order to create and sustain a Zero Harm culture.

In this challenging role you will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to the owners team and EPCM contractor
  • Instil and maintain an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Ensure project management plans reflect BHP project requirements and are implemented on the project
  • Conduct periodic audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Participate in incident reviews and ensure project reporting requirements are met
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities to incorporate learning's and improvements
  • Comply with all aspects of BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, CSG documents and Hub procedures

About you:
It is essential that you have qualifications in Health & Safety, or in a related discipline, and significant experience in a senior Health & Safety role within heavy industry. You will also possess an understanding of Health & Safety legal requirements as they apply to the mining & construction industry. Your exposure to large multi-disciplined projects or operations will be beneficial, as will your strong presentation and computer skills.
