Description:
We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to carry out engineering design and supervise the design work of others for a range of interesting materials handling and minerals processing projects, across all the key commodities. Assignments range from feasibility studies to detailed design and installation support and your ability to address complex engineering challenges, typically in a brownfield environment, will position you well to you develop your problem-solving and design credentials. The role includes the full cycle of engineering activities and provides the opportunity to develop great working relationship both within the company and with clients. The key responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to:
- Produce designs in accordance with project, discipline, statutory regulations, good practice and company procedural requirements
- Calculations including checking and documenting
- Produce project technical, equipment and installation contract specifications for the project
- Ensure design is completed within design man-hour and procurement budgets
- Prepare technical evaluations of equipment and installation contracts tenders
- Source, tender, tender review and order electrical and instrumentation equipment
- Review vendor’s design and set standards to vendor
- Review equipment and test equipment completing testing documentation
- Review feasibility and comment on adequacy
- Liaise with client to ensure that his requests have been carried out and advise client on all aspects of engineering
- Mentoring
To be successful you will possess:
- Minimum of 10 years mechanical design experience in the mining and minerals processing area in the design office and field
- Site experience – construction and commissioning
- Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of word processor, databases, spreadsheets and discipline related application software
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to produce documentation in a timely, neat and accurate manner
- Able to manage or direct up to 5 design personnel
