BAE Systems has been awarded a $270 million contract to upgrade seven Royal Australian Navy ANZAC class frigates, with the Anti-Ship Missile Defence (ASMD) capability. The new contract follows the successful upgrade of HMAS Perth in early 2011.
Our shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia, will be used to carry out the majority of this project through to its completion in 2017. To meet the demand of this exciting new work, applications are now welcome for current and upcoming Boilermaker positions on our team.
We are also embarking on an ambitious program to grow our business in both Defence support and in the commercial sector in the near future. We currently have a significant presence in the Defence market and we are undertaking a concerted program to win complementary work in the commercial sector, particularly the oil and gas sector. This activity will create more opportunities in the future.

As an ideal applicant for a role on the team, you'll have:
- Certificates in Welding or equivalent experience
- Experience working on heavy industrial work sites, preferably in a shipyard
- Experience in GTAW, MMAW and/or GMAW welding
- A strong work ethic
- A flexible attitude
- A strong commitment to team work
